キューバ出身のデイヴィッド・ヴィレレスが、そしてキューバが気になりだした。
ボクはキューバの奏者はあまり知らない。イラケレのパキィートとかチューチョ・ヴァルデスくらいか。ヴァルデスは米ケンブリッジでライヴを聴いて、度肝を抜かれたが。2000年前後の話だ。
その流れでピアノ奏者のオマール・ソサを知って、bandcampを漁ったら、こんなアルバムが出てきた。打楽器のアダム・ルドルフとのデュオ。試聴すると、なかなか良い。
ラテン、フリー、ジャズそんな枠を越えて、律動への衝動のようなものを様々な形で聴かせてくれる。音のダイナミックレンジが広く、耳を離せない。ルドルフの粘り着くような打音が気持ちよい。
オマール・ソサもアダム・ルドルフも、もう少し聴きたくなった。
